August 7, 2021: Portland
Week 30: Portland is a place where people realized that being an adult doesn’t have to suck. Build that dungeon in your basement, set up a VR room, decorate your lawn with dinosaurs, taxidermy that squirrel and attach it to the tree! You get to make the rules. Everything is so playful here. I did karaoke with this guy, and then also did karaoke with that other guy (ex best friend Anton). I FINALLY got my donuts! And I revisited the Hoyt Arboretum.

Week 31: My time in Portland has come to an end. I am leaving tomorrow to head South down the West Coast. It’s been a week of many goodbyes – heartbreaking because of the awesome people I’m leaving behind, but also exciting because of the adventures ahead. I don’t have many pictures this week but I got to dance for 5 hours in a dungeon, believe (if just for a moment) that I’m actually a writer, watch Hobo with a Shotgun, and spend tons of time with my friends. As ever, onwards.
August 21, 2021: Eugene
Week 32: Got to check out a dope venue for what will probably be my last chance to dance for a while. Before that I did a bit of hiking, got pulled into a chess match with the local Pawn Scum club, and generally remained bewildered by the overwhelming hippie vibe of Eugene. Lots of “home-free” camps, old stoners, and confused college kids with nothing to rebel against. It’s the slowest paced city I’ve found on my trip so far. Weird as hell, but great for recharging.
August 27, 2021: Redwood National Forest
Week 33, Part 1: Staring at GIANT FUCKING TREES. LOOK AT THEM
August 28, 2021: Pacific Coastal Highway
Week 33, Part 2: BEACH and SAND and ROCKS. The Pacific Coastal Highway is so gorgeous it’s exhausting. Ended up driving all the way to SF.

Week 33, Part 3: Other random pictures, loud BORKS and some country karaoke
